    A-Kon   I'm Back!
    [Adyon] - June 6, 2007   [Ninya] - June 6 , 2007

And everything can now settle back down, my finals, inerterm class, trip to open up the art gallery we've been doing marketing for, and now my week at A-Kon are gone! I start my summer painting class tomorrow, but it won't take up my schedule like before so we're good. I missed a couple weeks of updates there, and I was worried I was about to turn into Morr when it came to updates. =P

Now then, on to the convention!

I went to A-Kon in Dallas last weekend for anyone who didn't know. It was definately a blast. I've only got A-Cen in Chicago to compare it to, as far as major conventions go, but it was well orchestrated. Other than having some trouble with things I wanted to see filling up the room they were provided, I didn't really have any complaints. =3

Ninya dressed up as Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess. I'll try and post some pictures later on that. I'll have to see if I can find some others of her online as she got her picture taken a LOT. She only wore it one day for about 4-5 hours, as we got switched into normal clothes to go eat and she never got around to putting it back on. She put a pair of cat ears on after she changed back...and she was still getting her picture taken constantly. ^^;;

I made it a mission to get some really good art at this convention, and did I ever. There were some really amazing pieces I managed to pick up.

The only pieces I missed that I really wanted were a couple beautiful Metroid pictures by Ivan Flores. I'm really bummed about that one. I don't buy anything until like the 2nd day when I've looked at everything and made up my mind, and it so happened that I came when he was participating in the Iron Artist competition. Then I ran out of money before I realized. I also would have liked to pick up some prints from the VG Cats crew, but I decided to come back when the line was shorter, and forgot. ><

We went to see a couple things run by Spike Spencer (Shinji from Evangelion and MAR), who was definatley an outgoing type. He could even compete with Ninya when it comes to having a strong presense in the room.

We also saw the guys who did Cyanide and Happiness as well as Jennie Breeden who does Devil's Panties. We went and saw a panel they did on webcomics.

I missed the Humor, Am I Funny? panel VGCats, Cyanide and Happiness, and a few others did. Well, we didn't exactly MISS it, but it was full.

I got to see the Japanese rock band Mell perform. Also, therave was pretty nice too. I'd say A-Cen's was a lot better, but it's Texas, they're not as used to raves as Chicago. They didn't have as neat of a light show going on, nor was the overall room as dark which took away from the lights flashing 'nd such.

Other than that, Ninya and I spent the day after the con at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, soaking up sun and enjoying the water. And then we went to our hotel and passed out...

I had a great time at the Convention. I was so flattered to be photographed so much, it was a lot of fun, and actually I only saw one other person dressed as Belldandy the whole weekend.

I found some great artwork and a really cute swimsuit rap. My favorite thing is a painting of the Pirate Queen (who looks oddly like Keira Knightley in the face =P).

And I was amazed at the number of really cute (and skimpily dressed) women at the con. From the way Aaron talked about it, I thought that there was going to be no women at the con, but it was at least 51% female.

One thing about anime costumes: Girls, think about what you wear.if you can see through it, it doesn't count. Also, see my comic about short skirts on certain people ^_^
