What to Expect
[Adyon] - May 23 , 2007

*edit*
I seriously AM an idiot. I just don't seem to understand the limitations of time. I actually thought I'd have time to finish the comic before I left today. If I'd thought logically I'd have known it couldn't happen. I mean I'm leaving tomorrow, and I have to get everything packed as well as edit an ad for the client.

That and I need to finish preparing a report to give, possibly go to a baccalaureate for Ninya's brother, AND get things cleaned up around the house before I go. And all this is supposed to take place in the 6 or so hours between when I get out of class and need to get to sleep. (I only slept 4 hours last night and I need to rest tonight or it's going to be horrible on my 9-10 hour drive tomorrow ><)

So, it seems the comic will be next week. Sorry I had to do this. But I figured I'd miss a comic in all this madness (read on for further details) I hope this'll give me lee-way and I won't miss anymore. ^^;;

I thought I should upate with what the next couple weeks look like.

I'm going to move the main comic updates to Wednesday for a couple weeks. It's going to be that way or I'd just be late posting each week. Here's the breakdown.

I'm currently taking an interterm. (History of Italian Renaissance Art) Basically it's a 7 day course that's a semester class condensed into a few straight days. It goes from Mon-Thu this week and Tue-Thu next week.

On Thursday of this week after I get out of class, I'm headed to an art gallery's grand opening in Missouri. My marketing team and I designed her ads for her magazine submissions, as well as a couple other things like a radio and television commercials. So we're all headed down there for the opening. I won't get back in until Monday night.

Then after I get done with my second week of inerterm, I'll be leaving that Thursday to go to A-Kon in Dallas, TX. I'm not doing a booth or anything this year. Actually, I'm partially checking it out to see if I want to do that in the future. I'm going to get back in late Tuesday night of the next week. So on that one I'll hopefully be ahead so it can be posted on time. After I get back, the next day I begin my Problems: Painting summer class. (Basically finishing one painting a week for 6 weeks.)

I hoped I wouldn't have to miss a comic and could instead get ahead, but seeing as I'm still behind from finals, I don't know it didn't work. I'll try and get everything back on track soon though. The comic just adds to my stress, but I enjoy updating it so no worries. It'll continue.

May 21st
Whoops. I totally didn't notice I hand't updated the Chibi comic. I'm sorry. It just slipped my mind after I got it done or something.

Oh and the Chibi comic says Leah Foster even though she's still Leah Gibson. Just a bit of trivia for ya. It's cause she wants it that way so that's that. =3

Spiderman 3
[Adyon] - May 2 , 2007

I went out to see Spiderman 3 at the midnight showing. It was a lot of fun being in the theater with a bunch of rowdy fans. And the movie was...well ...decent. 3.5 / 5

I mean at the time I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was caught up in the moment and enjoying the special effects. It wasn't until after that I started nit-picking and realized how many flaws it had.

It's biggest problem was one thing: Too much of everything. There were WAY too many plots in the movie and way too much forced problems/solutions.

The problems between him and Mary Jane for starters, are way too much. For starters, the kiss...What the frack was up with that? It was so soap-operahish and forced. It felt so fake, abrupt and un-needed. The rest of the setup would have surficed. The trouble between them didn't need to go that deep to fit the needs of the movie. Even the symbiote's influence alone based on the strain between them would have surficed. There was no need for a deep bitterness between them. It would have been better to leave the relationship stuff out for awhile and deal more with Harry.

And to that, they had too many villains and their plots going on. To do it right, they didn't need Sandman in my oppinion. Don't get me wrong. His plot was well designed and one of the best parts. But it didn't work with the trilogy effect nor with the overall movie. It just gets lost in a heep of stories. Besides, in movie terms, haven't we already dealt with Uncle Ben? It didn't need to come back up like this.

As for if we cut out Sandman, the main focus could have been a lot more straightforward between Harry and him with Venom in there to provide a solid villain. It could have arrived at the same end with Harry's choice, but it would have been better planned. It felt like they were building okay with them, but then it just suddenly changed into the final form after the black suit Spidey and then suddenly the buttler's message to Harry. I was like, "What the hell, it would have been nice for you to speak up a little earlier dipshit!" ><

And if you'd used Venom as the main badguy, and made Eddie to feel right like he'd actually become Venom, then it would have worked great for the end result. Venom was not nearly as powerful as his original counterpart. (He didn't even look it...He wasn't beefy...He looked like Spiderman with Venom's head...and acted more like Carnage) If he'd been he would have made the perfect growing villain behind the scenes. Venom's simple hatred of Spidey would have been enough to use him to counteract the emotional plot between Harry and Peter.

So all-in-all...I did enjoy it. It's a good movie, and enjoyable. It's just a horrible way to end a trilogy. I'll probably even buy it just because. I just don't think it lived up to its potential, as the director seemed to want to throw everything he had in his head at us at once, likely cause he wanted to be able to end it after Maguire and Dunst left the franchise. But what we needed was less of him getting in everything he loved about the series and more organized, fulfilling plot.

End of Semester
[Adyon] - May 2 , 2007

If anyone hasn't noticed my trouble with updating, let me just start by saying I've been having a bit of trouble getting stuff out on time lately. The reason for all this is the semester is about to end.

The problem is, I've been playing catch up this ENTIRE semester. I've never been caught up once. It's been very nerve racking. >< A lot of it has to do with taking four of the most time consuming classes I've ever taken, all at once. The other part has to do with operating a webcomic and actually hitting weekly updates, while trying to produce a comic for print as well.

So now the site is getting hit all at once and I'm having to let the comic updates miss every once and awhile as I just don't have the time since I HAVE to have my catch-up work done in two weeks or I'll be screwed.

So a few comics will be missed, like I did with the main comic a couple weeks ago. This week I think I'm going to have to skip updating the LotP comic, as I don't have time to update it. But I'll try and only skip the little comics like Chibi or LotP from now on, as I believe it's better that I update the main comic once rather than two side comics.

Anyway, as I've said before. Thanks everyone for your understanding. I really appreciate it. Hopefully June will bring things into being a little more steady and predictable.

Lord of the Rings Online Review
[Adyon] - April 13, 2007

I thought I'd post up a review since I've been messing around with the BETA.

I haven't gotten to play in very far, but I thought I'd just give a quick rundown of it. We'll start with the overall oppinion. Basically, it's an excellent looking game, it's fun to play, and seems very well done. Some people might think I'm biased in praising it (based on my love of LotR), but it's far from the truth. I expected not to like it. I figured it'd be screwed up. I was pleasantly suprised to say the least.

Graphics-wise: The game's graphics are amazing! They're simply astonishing! I've only played FFXI and WoW, but this game blows their graphics away in quality. Not to mention, they did an exquisite job of recreating the world of the books/movies. I'll admit, I did enjoy World of Warcraft's slightly animated/cartoonish style, but as far as realistic fantasy, this game is at the top of the league.

Game Mechanics: This game is a lot of fun to play. The mechanics are very nice, though that's not suprising, considering it feels very familiar. Basically, fans of WoW will feel right at home in this game considering it is almost the exact system as WoW. Seriously, everything from the five bag slots in the exact same position to the type of attacks to the ACTUAL BUTTONS that open up the quest log and character inventory. It's basically an upgraded WoW, where they used it as a model and tried to improve upon small annoyances people had with the original. (You even start out with all 5 bags) Some people claim it's ripping the game off, but in truth many games build upon previously used systems. And since WoW was strongly based on a previous system itself, it doesn't seem to matter to much to me. Like me comparing the game to WoW? Hope so cause I probably will a few more times yet.

Gameplay: Questing is quite the same as WoW, though so far the game feels a lot more involved in a story than WoW was. But generally there will be a bunch of kill X number of mobs and gather such and such treasure. Bottom line now, if you don't like WoW, you won't like this game unless you're an obsessive fan of LotR.

Though, if the childish antics of some players in WoW bothers you (Let's think along the lines of "ZOMG, OWNZED! j00 n00b!"), this game really seems to have a different feel. The dialect used in the game, based strongly off the book of course, seems to create it's own atmosphere that will likely deter those types of people. There's not a straightforward PvP system in the game, although there is dueling, as well as a unique idea thought up here to play as some creature such as an orc temporarily. I don't think they felt the minions of Sauron had enough depth to completely merit having their own set of characters.

Conclusion: So, in my oppinion, this game looks awesome, is fun to play, and really it's kinda fresh! (in some aspects of course) I'm planning on gnabbing a pre-order so I can stop playing on the downloaded BETA version, as it really takes a toll on my system (the BETA version requires twice the processing power of the normal DVD version) Since my computer is a great system, but no power-house by any means, I'd love to be able to run around with the graphics on full rather than turning them to full just to look. It's too sad not being able to bask in the glory of the graphics!

--

I can't escape the world of MMORPGs it seems. I'm looking forward to getting into this game more than I would going back to WoW. I got tired of no one actually caring about the game, but rather just wanting to play PvP I loved PvP, even had a twink or two, but after awhile it just got old. Plus Ninya enjoys watching games more than playing, and she enjoys watching this one, while she didn't WoW. So there's a double plus for me.

Now there's something new to steal my interests! Hopefully I'll be able to get caught up with things so I'll have more time to play! ^^; See you in the game!

Progress
[Adyon] - April 9, 2007

I guess that page sligtly ends a bit of an arc, though I'll go ahead and say this part isn't really over. It's more like the intro section of what's going on just finsihed.

Oh, I meant to mention this earlier, but did anyone notice Ian McConville and Matt Boyd started a new comic different from the ended MacHall? It's called Three Panel Soul. It's good to see comics from them again.

Anyway, as for my other comic that keeps us on a once a week update schedule, it's finally progressing quickly. I'd been having trouble getting enough time (mainly due to a couple classes in school that required more than their set amount of time) to work steadily on it. I'm double-timing it now though, so hopefully I have it done within a few weeks.

Oh and the chibi comic (#10) about Ninya and the pharmacist is based on a true story. A lot of those Chibi comics may be from time to time. Our lives are interesting enough I don't always have to make shit up. =D

Our Dog is an April Fool
[Adyon] - April 1st, 2007

I got bored so the shoutbox is back. Wii! An' stuff...Feel free to abuse it again.

Our dog just turned 2 yesterday. Yes it's birthday is April 1st. My dog's a fool. =P Though there's some more irony to that story. My last dog I had when I was a kid was killed on April 1st. For one, how's that for ironic?

For two...imagine as a kid being sad trying to tell your friends your dog was run over that morning when everyone just goes "Nuh-uh! April fools! I'm not falling for that!"
