Previous | Rant Archives | Next 2008 Happy New Years to everyone! It's about that time! I'll try and put up some sort of resolutions later if I can decide on some. (Similar to last years maybe?) I decided it wouldn't matter if I posted Monday's comic early since it's done. Changing the update schedules again...Chibis will be Wednesday and Friday updates. I'm still going to do 2 a week for awhile instead of 1, but I'd rather focus on the main than the Chibi story arc. See you all in 2008! Señor Claus - Merry Christmas! The Chibi may have just lost any bit of normality it had left with this comic. =P This is also the reason I decided to post 5 Chibis on Monday instead of doing the main comic. I had too many ideas for this story as I went, and I hadn't made it to Señor Claus by Christmas. I plan for the story to continue even if Christmas is over, but I wanted him at least introduced in time. Señor Claus is actually the result of a scene we created in my Claymation class at my college. It goes to show how weird my friends and I can make things if we put our heads together. >.> If it ever gets 100% done, I'll link the animation on Youtube. Well, other than that, Merry Christmas everyone!! It's a Chibi Christmas! Yep...I'm skipping the main comic...again. >.> But this time it's because I plan to post 5 chibis. You'll see the reason on Monday, but hopefully this'll be a better treat than a single comic anyway. There'll be a total of 7 Chibis posted next week! Things Never Slow Down I wish things did slow down, but realistically, I know they don't. There's always something. In the future, I'd want to speed the comic up and produce comics in advance so that I'd never miss an update. Maybe it'll happen. It's suprising how much it can screw up my schedule when I don't have access to a computer for a few days. But I'm beginning work on the main comic. The Chibis are up in the meantime. Hopefully I'll have the main comcic up by Monday night...if not, then Tuesday morning. Some Big, Fat Hermaphrodite with a Flock of Seagulls Haircut and Only One Nostril It isn't necessarily important to know the reference for this comic's joke, but if anyone actually gets the reference, you are truly awesome. New Chibi Comics Story Arc I decided to start up a story arc in the Chibi. It's being called the Once Upon a "Cold" Time in Mexico story arc. Ninya gave me the idea for the title, and hopefully it will make since...later. The funny truth is, I didn't like Once Upon a Time in Mexico. The first was okay, but the second movie was ridiculous. The title's still good though, and most people'll get it. It'll hopefully get to constantly be updated 3 times a week for awhile...at least until the arc is done. Depending on how well this turns out, I may do this again in the future. Hopefully everyone'll enjoy it. Expect randomness “…If Only in My Dreams” The very sad thing about this Chibi, is that it's true. Jade used to have such long detailed dreams, that she would spend hours telling me the story. Well now she has passed them on to me I guess. (She'll just love this.) A few nights ago I dreamed about my wedding, nothing special, I dream about it a lot because of all the planning I've been doing, but this time… Jade had just gotten married three weeks before me. *Sulks* Her wedding was much prettier…and fancier…and I'm not sure who she married. But it was weird…really weird... What have I been eating before bed? It must be the peanut brittle! ;) Dropping a Comic - Adding a few Well I've definatetly decided. The main comic won't be up this Monday. Sorry, but this is the week before finals, and I need more time than I currently have. I finally got last Monday's done, and it's so depressing, 'cause it's not even anything special. Just the cover for chapter 2. Once again, the chapter name is playing off a title. Chapter 1's title, Brave New World played off the book title, Crawling in the Dark plays off the song by Hoobastank. Don't know if the titles will always do this, but I enjoy doing it when I can. The good news I have is that I'll try and post the Chibi comics 3 times a week for a bit, and they'll be starting a continuous story for that length too. With any luck, that'll start Monday, so hopefully that'll tide people over having to skip the main comic. ------------------------------- I'm also moving the Chibi up, since it'll be updating so often. That will make it easier for people to check for updates on it. 3 Weeks from the End Well, sorry I didn't get the comic done on time. I feel extra bad since it's nothing special anyway. I don't know yet, but I may have to skip next Monday's comic. I have to have a couple huge projects done by next week, and we'll see what time permits. It's about 3 weeks from the end of classes right now. Maybe I can get time tomorrow, though we're moving the rest of Ninya's furniture tomorrow, so I'd be stupid to make any promises. Anyway, I'll try and start updating the Chibi a few times if I don't have the time to do the main comic. I'll post updates as I know a little more of what to expect. OrAnIMe turns one As this comic says, it's OrAnIMe's birthday! I can't belive it's already been a year. This year we've had 52 main comics, 42 Chibi, and 29 Lord of the Parodies. That's a total of 123 comics this year! I really hope time permits me to post many more than that (especially the main comic) next year! But sure as it seems like the year was able to come about smoothly (other than the anniversary comic took forever for me to do) I look at the links and discover you can't navigate the archives. For some reason all the later navigation bars I designed have all decided to scramble. >< Dammit! I don't know what to do except to go through and reset every one. Edit: Everything's been fixed now I think. Someone leave a message if you come across anything not working. Thanksgiving Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate this great day...of eating good food. =P Chapter 2! Yep, it's true. We're finally on chapter 2 after the very long chapter 1. This first page has a little different approach to the art really. It's still my style, but it was more of a digital painting rather than cel shading. I enjoyed the change myself, as I don't really have the time normally to play around and do other methods. Either way, I hope it came across as dark and creepy as I wanted it too. =3 LotRO Housing and OMG SM 3 LOL first off, I have to edit my rant to post this video . Apparently I'm not the only one who thought this. (At 3:40 on the video) Cause I'm a sucker for crap like this... Yep, LotRO added housing. You actually can buy your house on a virtual landscape...(Like The Sims with a little less customization) As trivial as it may seem, it's something that can bring me back to the game. Just the time spent makes me want to start playing again, but I really need to stay clear. I'm horrible at losing time when I get to playing MMORPGs. God knows how hard it was for me to stop playing WoW. The only reason I think I may be able stop this game is that I just don't have the time to play ANY games, let alone such a time consuming one. That and none of my friends play it right now, so that takes away from the addiction. 'Course that makes me want to head back on to WoW every once and awhile...DAMN! >< End of Chapter 1 It's official. The final page of the chapter. . . And it only took about a year...>.> Well, that aside, it's finally time to move the comic along. Chapter 2 should be a little different overall, and should begin to actually flesh the story out a little more. Next chapter, nor the future ones will be this long. Most will be between 20-30 pages. I've got the next one written to about 28 pages so far. The first one kinda copied the style of manga and worked with a longer beginning to dwelve into things more. I can see a lot I did wrong with this chapter, but overall it turned out pretty well. If I hadn't originally started out thinking of the comic in a page by page (joke by joke) structure rather than an overall story, it would have flowed a little smoother. But I went back and fixed a couple areas, replacing a couple pages, and now we're back closer to what I want. And I managed to get it all done ahead of time, so with this page the the chapter could be finished off. Just a Little Tired …That's what I keep telling people. The truth is, I feel like crap. I have a really terrible head-cold, which makes me feel like someone is holding a pillow case to my face, and other then that, I hurt all over. Not the achy kind associated with flu, the kind of hurt that comes over your body when something inside you dies. I can't really say here what that is, it's enough to say that I was hurt. The same feeling happened when my dad left our family, the same numbness, and throbbing of tear-ducts. And it's like you're not really even attached to your own body. When ever this happens, my second personality comes out in public. At work and in class I come off smiling and cheerful; the perfect picture of optimism. When I think I'm alone, I let the smile slide off my face and my eyes well up a little. And today when my co-worker caught me and asked me if I was alright, that's what I said. “I'm just a little tired, that's all.” This line has always worked, and I found my self “a little tired” often last time a member of my family left. I felt like sharing here, well because no one really reads these things anyway, and because most of you will never actually see me, so I feel okay disclosing this information to you-- I'm not alright, I'm not fine I'm not Okay. Maybe someday I will be, but for now…I just need to tell someone, that I'm wide awake, and I hurt. Befriending Summer This rant title either sounds like some hippy ideal, a movie title, or maybe something along the lines of a line like "seize the day". But what the title really is talking about is I decided to actually go into detail about a friend of ours who's comic was recently posted on the site. Her alias is Summer, and her real name is Brooke Methvin. We actually met because of our puppy. Back before we moved from our appartments into a house, I let our dog out to use the restroom, and she ran into Summer who thought she was lost and called. Actually the dog's collar had our previous address in the town 10 miles away so she had a right to be worried. But yeah, other than that, I introduced Ninya and her, and we all started hanging out when we realized our common interests (anime being one). Other than that she likes to draw and stuff, and she started to make some comics for us. I decided I'd post some of them at one point or another. Anyway, that's Summer. Mid-Semester Yeah, this week will be different. First off, no LotP comic this week again. Ninya's been way too busy to color. I'm posting two Chibis though, one already today (A cute filler guest comic by our friend Summer) and one on Wednesday. There won't be a comic Friday because of this. I decided to do it this way, since they're both Halloween themed comics, and it wouldn't make sense to post them after. I hope I won't be moving too much around, but the mid-semester worries are hitting me and I'm not sure I'll make it without missing a comic at some point. I just have SO much work to do this semester and I'm feeling like I'm running out of time already. This is pretty much my BIG semester as far as everything goes, since I'm pretty much having to take most of the classes I have required left at once...for a grand total of 23 hours. I'll have like 2 required classes next semester. I just gotta make it through this one. So if I miss a comic at some point in the future, forgive me? JBB's Halloween Special Everyone should check out my friend JBB's Halloween special he just finished. It's 25 pages of awesomeness! He's always doing badass comics like that though, so it's no suprise from him. He'll always be the king of quickly producing comics. Back in my forum days, he produced somewhere around 170 pages in 2 weeks. That was crazy! I won't really be doing any sort of special, though I'll be uploading one or two Halloween themed Chibi comics. Inserting Pages Anyway, I decided to finish out the old comics I've been needing to do so I won't have to go back anymore. What's been needed is a page right before page 11. It's bugged me the hard transition between them walking and seeing the dog, not to mention something was needed to better elude to the vacant street they were on. So, that's being fixed. Sorry for those waiting for the strip to continue, but I promise this is the last bit of fixes I'm doing. In consolation, there'll be kinda two comics this week. The other page will be posted next Friday. It'll basically be a title page, so nothing too impressive, but hope the two comics together make up for not going forward with the story. Still Not Good Enough Sometimes I look at the comic and think, dang the art's getting better. I feel a little better about myself for a bit......and then I take a look at comics like The Phoenix Requiem and realize I need a LOT of practice still. I just love her sense of lighting in comics. I can honestly say, I'm getting closer on the finish of my characters, but I'm worlds behind her in backgrounds. Of course, I'd probably have had more practice if I hadn't been doing small edits and re-using the original backgrounds I did for the street on page 11! >< I mean, I've improved them as I went along, re-painting things that sucked, but I still haven't made that many new ones. Only a few different angles here and there and painting on to them as the scene expanded. I guess it'll have to do, since all this has happened in one place. I can't wait till the characters will start moving and I can draw more though. I will get as good as her someday!! But until then, be sure to check her out if you haven't already! The Phoenix Requiem just started up, after Inverloch ended. It'll be amazing to see where this story goes. Introduction Alright, I decided to finally do this comic, since I knew I wouldn't have time to do a full one. Hell I still didn't even get it finished on time. Now that the first part of the comic is about to close, I'm wrapping up all the bits and pieces. This is a page that should help to lead into the comic better. I'd originally designed it different actually, and I was afraid doing it beforehand would give too much away with the speed I was updating. This is actually the second time I've added a new first page. The problem was that without this page the comic kinda started abruptly, seeming too random. So I had to make that page for that meantime. Now I need to re-word a couple things to make it flow right. I'll be doing that shortly. Back From Santa Fe Alrighty, last week was a complete miss. I had no internet at the beginning of the week after moving, and when it was done, I left town. Ninya and I both just got back from Santa Fe actually. Santa Fe was a friggin' amazing place. There's definately a reason they call it The City Different. I can't wait to get to go back at some point. There were so many artists. We actually got to meet with one of the greatest sculptors I've ever seen Ed Natiya. If you look at some of his work, keep in mind most of his stuff is life size. We had a long conversation discussing art and the like. The only thing that could have been more exciting for me, would have been meeting Dale TerBush, who was also exhibited there and does some of the most beautiful paintings. Other than that, we saw the Loretto Chapel staircase, which of course is just beautiful and has such a crazy legend behind it. It's just so amazing considering how it's built and not even using nails. We saw a lot of other things and ate a lot of good food too, but that's all I'm going to talk about.
