Grad School Has Begun
[Adyon] - August 31, 2008

Dang, that was a busy week. Finally got the finished comic posted, but only a day before I should be posting the next one. Most people would just call it a loss and skip a week, but I like the pressure. It keeps me working in any spare time I have.

But, yes as I mentioned last week, I started grad school this week. I actually live a couple hours away, so I have to drive two days a week. 8-9 hours of driving a week is tiring (and expensive), but I love it. It's a TON of work but rewarding. It's definately cutting into my comic production time though. Of course, the other time went to substituting on Friday and more driving on Saturday, as we went to go do a bunch of shopping for the house, including buying fencing that I need to set up. So, the comic's just been sitting there all but finished for a couple days.

Anyway, I'm going to keep working on the comic and try to catch up, but I admit it's hard for me to guarantee I'll meet updates on a specific day until I'm ahead. We'll see, but I'm still confident I can catch up eventually.

Wile E. Coyote
[Adyon] - August 25, 2008

It seems most of the time I'm the coyote. And you know what? Getting caught up with things is my Road Runner. I'm always feeling like I'm about to catch it.

Monday's finished comic is coming. I'll work on it tomorrow. It's up in black and white for now. I just hoped I'd be caught up after this weekend and even done with next week's. I'd like to get ahead as I'm starting grad school on Tuesday, and if I'm ahead, even if the semester gets rough I won't miss an update.

Well, I'll try my best to get ahead for you all who stick with me.

Chibi Week
[Adyon] - August 11, 2008

Now to finish this thing.

Next Week is Chibi Week
[Adyon] - August 4, 2008

Alrighty, it's decided. I'll update the Chibi Wednesday and Friday as per normal this week, and then next week will feature a mass posting every day Monday through Friday until it's done. I won't be posting the normal comic due to it, but we'll have a lot of content to see in exchange, that's for sure. Look forward to it!

Updated Comic Intro
[Adyon] - August 2, 2008

Damn, it took me awhile, but I managed to go back and clean up the beginning of the comic. What was 22 pages is now 12. It's a much better read and won't turn away new readers as the old one did. (Man it was horrible) So, this update really improves the comic. It did royally screw up the archives though.

The problem with not knowing how to code PHP is that HTML leaves me with all these pages I can't easily edit, so page 37 in the archives goes to the page 47 in numbers. It's not as bad as it sounds. Everything works fine. It's just confusing for ME. I have to double-check things a lot.

But I don't think I'm going to change it just yet. Hopefully soon I'll have the beginning re-drawn. What I did today was merely consolidate all the horrible plot of the beginning into something of what I plan to do with the re-write. The overall goal is to create a well flowing story, and frankly, I just wasn't doing that in the beginning. I'd been drawning a year before I started putting these on the computer, and I hadn't been thinking anything more than some random slapstick action/comedy. (Kinda along the lines of Ranma 1/2 if you want an anime comparrison) But, the truth is, the current "epic" (if you will) story is the kind I like to do, and I couldn't help but end up falling back into it.

By the time I started OrAnIMe on the web, I had already planned out the plot. The mistake I made was not realizing how crappy the intro was. It's always haunted me, and I've tried thigns to get it to flow smoother, but to no avail. I'm not interfering with the normal updates with the re-write, so when it's done it'll just go up. I'll then edit all the pages and their numbers along with probably redoing the entire site with a new design.

Dragonforce and Wall-E
[Ninya] - August 1, 2008

As Adyon has told you all, we recently went to a Dragonforce concert in the city. I was actually the first rock concert I’d ever been too, and I gotta say…it was cool…nothing to die for, but cool.  The first two bands had a lot of screaming involved, and was a huge turn-off for the whole night, but Dragonforce was really cool.  The lead guitarist was very cute.  If you couldn’t tell from Adyon’s little picture, I’m attracted to little eyes. ^_^ So, because this guys is Chinese and had all that anime pretty-boy hair, he was a Class-A cutie!

Also we recently saw Wall-E! I swear, I spent the whole movie going “Awwwwww!”  It is by far the best film Pixar has ever made!  O_O It was sooo cute, and all I can say is I want one! (my own Wall-E, I mean)

Dragonforce Concert
[Adyon] - July 31, 2008

As I mentioned in my last rant, we did get to catch Dragonforce in concert while we were traveling last week. It was really great. They do put on a pretty good show.

They had a local band and another minor band with them, one of which was okay...The big issue of the night came when the 2nd band (the one I liked) actually blew the P.A. system. It was an hour in between before Dragonforce came out.

Other than that, it was awesome. The biggest treat for us was during the finale (which of course was Through the Fire and Flames) the lead singer ZP Theart silently just slipped away during the guitar solo. He apparently came around to make his way through the back of the crowd. To make things even better, he actually snuck up and jumped up right in front of us. He messed around with us for a few seconds, then split again to head back to the stage as the solo was almost over.

It was just one of those moments you'll remember for a long time. I know the reason he chose us to mess with was Ninya, of course, as everyone knows the "hot girl" influence was the major draw there, but it's not like I can blame him. It was just cool either way.

LONG Weekend
[Adyon] - July 28, 2008

Okay, we got in a little later than I originally planned, but mostly due to some sickness that we caught that made traveling difficult. Didn't really sleep at all last night either, so I'm exhausted, and there was just barely enough will to get us home. So, that's why Monday's comic won't be worked on until I get up tomorrow.

Comic should be up by evening Monday, as I'll probably be in bed by 1:00 am at least, and I can get up and start working early enough tomorrow. I don't have anything to do tomorrow either.

But other than that, we visited my sister and her new baby this weekend, and it was a decent time, if not for the sickness. We also saw Dragonforce in concert on the way down, which I'll write about in a rant here in a day or so.

Plans to Finish Chibi Comics Arc
[Adyon] - July 24, 2008

Sorry about there being no Chibi. I decided it wasn't worth it try and find a way to update it. I think most people have lost interest in this ..."Christmas"... arc anyway. Granted, it's not that big of deal, as my class came up with them together as unique characters, and in that, they're not just a Christmas themed story.

Either way, this thing has drug on too long. Chalk it up to my overcomplicating it into an actual story, rather than just some random goofy jokes, or my lack of planning/scripting before-hand to realize the extent it would cover. I hope to have some time to draw a little bit over this trip, and seeing as we're nearing the end, maybe finish it up. After that I'll post it really fast one after another until it's all posted, and we can move on.

Anime Dances
[Adyon] - July 15, 2008

This is what it's like when meme's collide! Though those who never saw McRoll'd won't get it. Most people know about the Lucky Star opening.

Oh, and the stars of Super Smash Bros: Brawl do the Hare Hare Yukai.

YouTube + Anime is weird.

Politically - We're Screwed
[Adyon] - July 12, 2008

In chatting online, I've been asked a few times about my political alignments. I've been told because of my type of webcomic, that I should be known. I don't get it, is my webcomic somehow political? Is it the angels and demons aspect? I would think that would make it religious maybe, but not political.

Either way, I guess I'll quickly sumarize my current take on the current politics and the presidency. Simple...I don't support anyone! Seriously, the only two choices are Obama and McCain. They both have their supposed evidence of why they're the "best for the job". McCain's the war veteran with a lot of experience in the U.S. political spectrum. Obama's a "black" man, is charismatic, and likes to talk with people and supposedly rationalize an answer.

But their both so manipulative. Obama is incredibly scary to me. Not that he's black, c'mon people! We're just humans, and we shouldn't elect someone just because their black or not. That shouldn't even factor. The fear is that he really does have a lot of horrible policies, and yet he hides most of everything under his amazing charisma, talking his way "around" most conversations without ever letting us know what he really wants. I want to believe he's different, but his manipulative ways make me think he's not.

I'm actually pretty rational minded and neutral when it comes to selecting politicians, but as for my actual leanings, I lean to the right. I'm a republican.

So, wait, republican...I support McCain right?

God, no. NO! I can't stand McCain. He's manipulative and confused , misleads everyone, and is the biggest example of a neo-conservative I've ever seen. How this guy won is beyond me.

No. Actually, it's not. It's the media. They've confused us. We've changed so much that the neo-republican ideology is now "republican". Intelligent people who want to simply protect our country and its economy instead of being the world's police officers are labeled isolationists. (I.E. Ron Paul)

The media has mislead people in such a way, it dumbfounds me. Many republicans hate Bush now but vote for McCain, a man who is actually everything people supposedly hate about Bush! >.> On that, I don't believe Bush is evil. I just think he's "not that bright" (political correctness FTW). He ran on the ideals of non-interventionism. He believed we shouldn't get into places we didn't belong and he was against pre-imptive war. I don't think he was lying, I just think he's the type who gets all excited, believes what he's told and doesn't have the common sense to question those pulling his strings. In other words, he's just the country's scapegoat. There were many people trying to get us into Iraq, and it all started in 1998. They just used the opportunity of September 11th to manipulate us (and our President) into charging in there gung-ho.

I'm proud of my republican roots, but I'm not currently proud to be a republican. Republicans have completley changed their views over the last 20 years, and especially since September 11th. It's not the same party.

So now, I just wonder, what can we do? We can only elect McCain or Obama. Both of them are the worst possible options. And both of their policies are nearly the same now. After McCain's first "100 years more" bit for the war, he wants everyone out now by around 2013... And now Obama has extended ideas of when we should be out to be about the same. Really, their both just polictians, and they both support the same things.

Of course it shouldn't HAVE to matter this much. We shouldn't have to be scared of who we elect. I support Ron Paul's "revolution", to change things back to how they were. The President should be a figurehead with little power overall. As our fore-fathers believed, power corrupts, and while we do want someone strong to lead us, we want them to be nothigs more than a mere referee when it comes to goverment decisions, guiding everyone and vetoing idiotic decisions, like telling children, "Your plan is stupid, go sit down and do it again!". But the power to change things should fall with our legislations comprised of many people, how it was intended. We shouldn't have to fear how the person who's elected next will mis-use their power. >.<

In truth...I think what's best for America will probably be Obama. He may be the only one willing to go through with the changes we need. I can't know for sure he'll change things like Ron Paul would, but if he followed the call, he might get something done. We just need to stop the injustices that are making the rest of the world dislike us.

Speed It Up
[Adyon] - July 9, 2008

Comics like this one really show me how much I need to work on my art. It's not the overall look, but the ways I take to get to the end. This comic took WAY too long. I'm always trying to improve my speed though. I want to get to the point where it only takes a few hours to produce each comic from start to finish.

Don't forget there'll be a 2nd comic Friday to make up for last week's missed comic. Now to try and make sure it's done on time. >.>

4th Without Fireworks
[Adyon] - July 4, 2008

Happy 4th of July for those of you in the U.S. It's a day to reminisce about the heritage of what made the country great, and in current times to motivate us to get involved in helping curve the changes disrupting the ideals we were founded on.

Sorry, this isn't going to turn into a political rant or anything. I'll leave that for another day.

As for the 4th, unfortunately, we're not allowed to light fireworks here, as there's a burn ban due to low rainfall this year. Hmm...Taking out my ability to blow stuff up on the 4th is just not fair.

Anyway, we saw a couple movies lately...Wall-E needs no review by us. It was just one of the best movies, and in my oppinion at least, Pixar's best. Just an adorably funny movie.

We also just saw Hancock tonight (July 3rd). Ninya and I both agreed it was a wonderful movie. It was hilarious for one. A lot of critics thought the turn in pacing was abrupt, but I don't agree. Ninya and I thought it was well forshadowed several times, and we actually both came to have partially predicted it, based on our analyzation of writing style. It just fit. Anyway, we loved it. Maybe not as undisputably as Wall-E or Iron Man, but those were just "off the charts" amazing.
