Previous | Rant Archives | Next Flashback Complete I originally wasn't going to do this flashback, but instead wait and add it to the beggining when I finished redoing those first 15-so pages, but I decided this was needed now. It's too vital to the feeling of the story, and hopefully those of you who've been with me from the beginning will soon get to see the comic structured much better as a whole. I have the preview of next week's comic (simple backgrounds and inked line-art) up on the download page, but it's actually the Chapter 3 cover page. I really don't want the only thing I update next week to be a cover page (even if it takes just about as long due to extra detail) so I'll try and finish SOMETHING else up to show. I can't guarantee an extra page, but I'll do something, even if it's finally getting Lord of the Parodies comics going again. =P "Meh" to Little Big Planet Delay Seriously, it's driving me nuts. I want to play it. Even more than Guitar Hero: WT that comes out before it now. Little Big Planet is just such a unique experience, I want to relax and play it, and that's saying a lot, seeing as how I haven't played any of my games in a LONG time. This is worth it. But them delaying it just cause they didn't want to upset people over a song having a reference to the Qur'an in it is just irritating. Not that I'm saying anything bad about the Qur'an, just that it's annoying how they have to play it so safe. It's just there's no reason for anyone to be upset, the song is written by a Muslim artist, so he's not trying to offend Muslims by it, and in fact, most people reference their culture in their music. Likewise, I would really hope fellow Christians wouldn't be upset either. I guess I realize there are radicals out there that are intollerant of other religions, and the executives of LBP could be afraid of that sparking controversy, but that's depressing too. People need to be able to practice their religions in peaceful tolerance to one another. Everyone has their radicals on every side, it's just a truth about humanity, and those radicals give everyone (Christian, Muslim, etc alike) a bad name. I guess it's just sad because the song is quite beautiful. It's Tapha Niang by Toumani Diabate which can heard here. Avoiding Ranting? I know I’ve been avoiding ranting for quite some time, and it’s because I’m very excited about something! The thing is I don’t want to tell everyone about it, because I don’t know for sure if I’ll get it…(-_- Oh, and the first person who reads this and asks me if I’m pregnant gets a virus sent to their computer…so not kidding about the virus thing. Because I’m most certainly not and won’t be…for many, many, many years.) Because this has to do with a JOB, a great job, a job that could be more fun than anything else in the world! A job that might let me quit trying to do something I’m not all that excited about and do something I’ve always wanted to do! But again I don’t want to say what it is until I know for sure that I will have it. Instead I’d like to give a shout out to a member of my high school class. One of the kids I graduated with took his own life last night. And even though I didn’t know him well, it feels weird knowing that I will never see him a class reunion. In a town as small as ours, you know everyone, even if they aren’t you friend necessarily; you still know them and it’s hard. I would ask that those of you who pray will send up a prayer for his family, and his close friends. Thank you all, I hope the next time I rant it will be much happier. Misunderstandings Poor Krione, being thought of as a pedophile. He seems a little embarrased to have been labeled too. =P Ho Hee Hum I need to advertise this site. I did it a long time back, but I just haven't felt like doing it. Maybe someday if I update this comic more often when I have less other responsibilities. Oh well. By the way, someone needs to tell Ninya to make a new rant. =P The Bird is the Word Sunday was the first time in a long time I've laughed so much at Family Guy. (Ep 119 "I Dream of Jesus") I just loved the randomness in the humor, the straight parody, and the things that made Family Guy good. There for awhile it seemed like all they ever did was instead of actual humor or parody was just try to push the edge of decency for a laugh. But man ...In other news, I'm refraining from actually fully going into talking about the horrible $700 billion bailout that just passed that will inevitably only cause a much worse crash later. I mean seriously, how can they be so clueless as to try to fix something by more of the same that got us into the problem in the first place?!! >< Most of them admit they don't understand the economics behind it. They're only trying to fix the immediate problem, ignoring what's going come later! Chapter 2...Complete! Finally, we're done with chapter 2. Someday I hope I can have the time to begin producing these MUCH faster. I'd love to release like 4 a week if I could, but until I have the time, I'll stick with just updating every week on schedule. =P Next week switches gears a bit for a few comics (4 specifically). Should be interesting, as we're now beyond the "introductory" part as I'd call it. We'll be getting more relaxed now. Next week's comic also will come with some revisions to some of the previous comics' dialog, as it changes things a bit, but I knew this was coming. I'll discuss more next week about the reason why I've had to revise earlier plot dialog so many times. >.> Kaname Chidori Over time, I've gotten a lot of comparrisons made about characters...(Believe me, it happens to most comic artists I know nowadays) People can't help it. They see a character and go "Ooh that reminds me of...". I've gotten quite a few about Ninya, including Orihime from Bleach a bunch more than others. I mean, I can see how some might, but surprisingly I've never had her compared to Kaname Chidori from Full Metal Panic. It's crazy, because in fact, a couple years ago when Leah and I watched the first season, we were like "Holy crap! It's Ninya!". I mean, it'd be one thing if the character simply looked like her, but she acts like Leah acts, and how Ninya shall act a lot of the time goofily. It's weird, considering how a lot of the slapstick humor is in the series, is how I tend to do it in my own, so I can draw even more parallels between the two. Either way, it's the most strikingly similar character I can compare her to in my oppinion. And I just love this comedy scene. This one's damn funny too. September 11th 2008 It's crazy, it's been 7 years, but I remember 9/11 so well. It was definately a sad time, and I doubt I'll ever forget it. Of course, now after all this time we have things as Americans we can learn from it as well. I’m a republican, albeit a libertarian republican (followers of the Constitution), but I do believe we've been mislead over where the "War on Terror" has gone when we moved on to Iraq instead of the original pursuit of retaliation for 9/11. The problem with Iraq is when you find the facts that there were several people that had been trying to push us into Iraq since 1998, and they used 9/11 to manipulate that passion we felt into an excuse to go, even when their own intelligence and people in charge said they still had no proof of weapons (WMD) before we went in. In fact, considering how they had been firing at our planes overhead for years and didn't really have the ability to hit us, it was pretty unreasonable to believe they posed any threat to us. None-the-less, we're there now, and there are things that likely need to resolved. The Iraqis were not ready to be a democratic nation, as it’s never been there culture, so that must be settled. While eradicating terrorism may be impossible on the whole, Al Qaeda may be one thing we eventually vanquish IF we go about it right. The only thing I believe we NEED to do is stop making ourselves look worse in the world’s eyes, like the use of torture (We should never lower ourselves to that level, especially like what we did at Abu Ghraib). Using means like that only makes them feel justified to use those means back, and besides torture has been proven to rarely provide accurate information. We can't undo what we've done, but we can make sure to stop thing like that from occuring again. We also need to bring most of our troops that are stationed overseas (not in Iraq, in the other 170 countries we patrol) and guard us here. We have 80-90% of our military stationed in other countries, (and did back on 9/11. It may very well be part of the reason why we ignored the warnings of the attack, even when though they knew about the it ahead of time. They had SO many things to watch, it was impossible to do any good with all the info. They failed to take action.) We need to examine the reason for 9-11 itself as well. When our presence there in that land is what allowed Osama bin Laden to gather followers willing to strike out against us, similar to how the poor state of Germany’s economy allowed Hitler to come to rise and gain followers. They didn't believe we had the right to tell them how to live. (Think about it, would we allow all the other nations to march around our country, set up bases where they pleased and tell us what to do. There’d be a lot of people wanting to strike out against those other countries, and all it would take was some insane idiot to convince them to do so) While I do believe that we may have needed to have that presence there that caused the attack as we were aiding allies, I do believe the attacks are not surprising, though not any less horrible. In this, it’s easy to see why we should reduce our mass policing of the world. We more likely to make enemies and we have less protection here at home. So, I say, don’t forget about 9-11. It was a tragic moment, and don’t doubt that we were wronged, but we should not only remember that, but try to learn from it and improve our handling of future events. If we only limit ourselves to repeating history, (with more and more powerful weapons) and stooping to each others level, there can only be one outcome. I'm Ahead + Spore Released I actually got caught up with the comic, and it feels good. I want to get a couple weeks ahead if at all possible. I'll be able to guarantee updates on time that way. ^^;; Plus, it might help for when I get overwhelmed with grad school. Spore's out. It's been hit heavy on the DRM argument. I can't really say how bad DRM is overall. It is their product, so they have the right to do it, but should they? There's some truth to the arguments. Mostly, the fact that many have claimed it installs software that is hard to remove and slows your computer. That alone would hold me off from buying until I confirmed it. Some worry that the game will be unplayable if somewhere down the line EA stops "supporting" activation. Of course, in reality, this shouldn't be a problem, as EA would just have to set up a code to "auto-approve" all activations when the game is beyond its prime, even beyond the 3 limit, but I can understand why some are concerned none-the-less. Really, in the end, I think it's just a stupid move on EA's part, because when it comes down to it, only those who legitimately bought it will suffer, as you can go online, pirate it illegally and not suffer all the security. (It was online days before it went on sale in the U.S.) |
