First Blizzard of Spring =D
[Aaron] - March 30 , 2009

So, as I posted in the news box, we weren't able to go to AnimeLand Wasabi over the weekend. The blizzard that came through Thursday through Friday made it impossible to travel. Not only would it have been dangerous, but most of the roads were closed anyway, so we had to give up. It was a 7 hour drive for us regularly.

We were a little bummed, as it would have been a nice break for us, and we put some effort into getting ready, but we also enjoyed the snowing in too, even if it's already almost melted now. The yard's green though.

AnimeLand Wasabi
[Aaron] - March 20 , 2009

I just thought I should go ahead and put a notice up here that we'll be at the AnimeLand Wasabi convention in Denver, CO next weekend. (March 27th through the 29th) We're going to be behind a booth for those of you who'll be in the area and want to meet us in person. I'll also have some artwork with me for sale.

Mention you read this online, and I'll give you a free quick sketch. I'll likely be doing sketch commisions as well, but those of you who read this can get something quick for free. ;)

Completing Old Pages
[Aaron] - March 4 , 2009

I finished off a couple of the incomplete pages done. Pages 81 and 82 are now 100%. Only 3 more pages missing from that batch of comics during finals last semester.

My Edward
[Leah] - March 2 , 2009

Ha ha hahaa ha!  I married Edward Cullen!  No really, I did.  Most of your out there are probably like, “Who?”  But leave it to say that I married the most perfect man in the world.  Today he got up early to make me pancakes and eggs and gave me a foot massage.  He’s really been so great about humoring me lately with all the stress from school and even listening to the “Twilight Saga” mp3s with me.

I’m not saying that he wasn’t super sweet before, but listening to these books has him being even more noticeably perfect. When I first read these books I kept laughing out loud because Adyon and Edward act and think exactly alike.  But now it’s like he’s taking the books as a tutorial on how to be the perfect husband.

Personally, I recommend this “training method” to any girl, if your guy is willing to trudge through the overly-gooey-puke-your-guts-up romance.  (I say that for you, Jade…you’d hate this series. :P …Really you shouldn’t try them, you’d gag…I mean  I gag sometimes…me  gagging.)  ttyl.

Style
[Aaron] - February 23, 2009

Ever so slightly, my style and how I try to go about doing the comic changes. As of late, with Ninya's help, I've been musing over the style to continue the comic in. I think I've all but decided to stick with "anime" instead of the more smoothed and natural "painterly" coloring I've been doing more of. You can see how I got VERY painterly oriented back here as apposed to the current page.

Reasoning is simple. While it helps develop my art, it just feels wrong on the comic as a whole. I feel it doesn't mix well with the semi-light mood and deformed nature of some of the works. It's not that I don't like the other style, but I don't know if it's as appropriate, not to mention the extra time required to paint that way...I feel it's superficial and time-consuming.

We'll see in the future, but for now, Ninya and I agree that it's the best decision.

Stiff Artwork
[Aaron] - February 21, 2009

I hope it's just my exhaustion, but all my pages lately have taken a lot of strain to get to come out right and have still seemed to look like crap compared to my vision. The sketches looked better to some point.

I don't know. I think the problem is me storyboarding the pages out to the point of knowing where each scene was going to fall so far in advance. I'm going to lay off that for the next part. I think it stifles my creativity or at least the dynamic range of it, especially anatomy/posing-wise. As for this week's now posted comic, I think I need to make some edits I didn't pay attention to. Also, I need actual anatomy practice again too. I get rusty and lost some of the realistic feel of the poses. Dang.

Placeholder
[Aaron] - February 19, 2009

Sorry about taking so long to rant. The flu really kills your motivationg to do ANYTHING. I haven't ever gotten back up to 103.6 or anything, so that's good. Either way, I'll be glad when it finally passes.

Recharged and Rebooting
[Aaron] - February 8, 2009

My weekend was fun. We were gone all weekend...celebrating Ninya's 21st. For me, it's the first I've gotten to relax so much in awhile, so I feel recharged and ready to go again. Of course, I planned to get the comic done ahead of time, but due to last week's being so late with all the computer/power problems, that didn't happen. So, even though I hate it, I'm behind again this week.

Anyway, maybe I'll have time to do it by the end of today (Monday), but if not it'll probably be Wednesday. I'll update status via the update box as I know what's going on, so check there as usual. I'm going to try and do the line-art ASAP though so I can at least put that up.

Dying Computer/Power Supply
[Aaron] - February 4, 2009

Oh for the love of! First, I can't get the comic done on time...then I can't upload it after. My computer is slowly dying. >.< More specifically, (I believe) my power supply is going out. I don't know for sure, but everything SEEMS to indicate that. I am wary of buying a new one before I know 100% though as I'm not exceedingly wealthy lately. =P

I need to find out quick. I really hope it is just that and not the whole computer going in an aray of problems.

Hate Power Outtages
[Aaron] - February 3, 2009

Wow, sorry for the delays this week. I hate to make excuses, but I can't control the power going out Sunday night. Any and all complaints should be directed to Tri-County Electric Co-op of Central U.S. Thank you.

Of course, I COULD have saved...(and should have! I'm so pissed at myself for forgetting for so long.) Losing 5 hours of work really sucks. With Leah's bithday stuff, and a few other things, I haven't gotten the chance to work on the comic really since then. (just a little today) I even planned to Monday, but if I'd thought it through, I would have known how busy we'd be. I only have a couple hours of work left on it, which I'll be doing soon, so please bare with me.

Time Stands Still
[Aaron] - Janurary 26, 2009

I've been pretty low on stuff to say this month. Really, other than working hard, not much else worth mentioning has happened.

I've been working on a bunch of art, so maybe I can start finishing/posting some stuff soon.

Next Monday (February 2nd) is Ninya's 21st birthday though. =3

Official Grad Student
[Aaron] - Janurary 5, 2009

Tomorrow, classes start up again for me. Wee. While I've been taking grad school classes all last semester, this will my first semester to be fully admitted to the grad school. I didn't quite have all my stuff ready last semester, but now I do.

2009
[Aaron] - Janurary 5, 2009

It's 2009! Hope everyone has a great year!

What will 2009 mean for OrAnIMe? Only time will tell. I hope to soon finish things out with the beginning edits, update stuff, re-design the website (with RSS feeds and such, for easy browsing), and maybe get to a point where I can update more. Then maybe I'll start advertising this site, once I feel it actually is worth reading. =P
