Re-Birth
[Aaron] - September 20, 2010

I've thought long and hard over what I planned to do with the comic. And...before anyone asks...No, I'm not quitting it. Bad news and good news...the best at the end.

The problem I've had for forever is that I've been constantly trying to make up for the fact that the first 30-40 pages I hadn't planned anything, and was just goofing around. I began to come up with structure after that, but even those things changed over time. I'm just now figuring out all the odds and ends, and it occured to me what I really needed to do. I plan to start the comic over.

Yes, I know, but I don't plan to make this a horrible transition. For one, I'm going to do the comic different. It's going to be a black and white format. The stories I create are just too long. I love doing full detailed work, but it's just too time-consuming, and I end up having to take time away. I'll still be throwing colored pages and other artwork in, but right now I'm going to be working on finishing up story concepts, re-designing the site and launching the new OrAnIMe.

I want to do something where I can output several pages per week. If I can treat this more like a manga instead of a comic book with an anime-inspired style, I can actually work on this like it was meant to be and really show a story...And a much better designed one. Same concept, but SO much better execution.

This shouldn't be too hard of a transition, as most viewers probably gave up about a year ago when I started being on hiatus all the time, but I know there are those who still visit here. Once I get through all this, I'll even begin advertising the site. Then we'll see what the future will bring.

Thanks everyone! Also, in the meantime I'll try to post up the sketches I did for the next few pages just to give you a bit of closure/fun.

Shout Out
[Leah] - June 28, 2010

Hello, and good to see you all. It’s been forever and so much has happened to us. Adyon graduated with his masters, I got my bachelors degree in Biology, and now we’re working on moving/house hunting/job hunting in Dallas. I can’t wait! I’m very excited to move to the big city and start my new school.

I’d like to give a shout  out now to some of the newer fans of the comic, James, Ben, and “Dustin” Darrel…keep it real guys, I hope you enjoy the new updates. =) Also I’d like to sent my greets to the Mods, Jade and Rocky. :P We hope to see you both soon.

This Year in History
[Aaron] - June 15, 2010

It's been a strange year, a busy year, and a pretty rewarding year all at the same time.

Let's recap: I took a half a year off the comic. I got my Masters. I worked as assistant director of an art gallery. I planned and put on some amazing events for said art gallery. I began looking into housing in Dallas as well as jobs in graphics for advertising.

Well, I'm sure the main thing that concerns you, the masses, is my seemingly perpetual hiatus. Never wanted to do that, but if I hadn't...I wouldn't have graduated. But now I'm through all that somehow. Now I want to do some work on the comic. Now I can see if I can get a cavalcade of comics lined up so I don't have any interuption when we begin moving to Dallas here before long.

It was nice to see that fans of the comic supported me in the hiatus. I admit, I was afraid of getting a much more tumultuous reaction out of it. But I shall digress from the negative and highlight the positive: you all are the best! I hope to please you all more with comics soon. (Including some pages I've been sketching on during the hiatus to update the half-hazard beginning comics)

Oh quick bit of post script here, the reason we're moving to Dallas is Leah's acceptance into chiropractic school at Parker College of Chiropractics! She's quite excited, and I'm a mixture of that and proud of her.

Dun dun DONE!
[Aaron] - May 5, 2010

I'm through with my Masters! Now to graduate! Halleluja!

Still Computer-less
[Aaron] - January 27, 2010

I haven't even worked on any random art lately. I've been trying to design my graduate stuff on our laptop. It took forever just to get everything set up and going. Just a pain. Really. Anyway, I can't go on complaining too much. It's unsitely. Still, I'll hopefully be able to get my computer fixed at some point and then I'll begin working on putting up a little something from time to time while I focus on my grad project. It's crazy exhausting actually. =P

Of course I haven't put this on here due to me JUST NOW getting my laptop ready to manage the site, but I also took up a job as assistant director to a local art gallery. It's been slowing my work on my project a lot. I'd like to have been almost done already, but I really need to work harder than ever now. Still, it was a great opportunity that came my way suddenly...and frankly I needed cash. Of course, 'tis the way of the world now, as I'm sure many of you have noticed. Still, I appreciate the fans that have stuck around over such a large hiatus. I know it's taking awhile. I've been sketching out things though in my free time. I hope to get the comic going good after all this is over and get things fixed so I can do some small quick things in the meantime.

Later everyone!

Back from the dead: and Happy Thanksgiving!
[Leah] - November 30 , 2009

I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last update!  Sorry guys I really dropped the ball. It was just so easy to say, “I’ll update later, I’m busy.”.  The good news is I think I’m going to make all A’s this semester. It feels good to think my hard work has paid off.  Also, I’m just so proud of Adyon for getting a job at our local art gallery! :D

It really is the best possible job he can have right now, because he’ll still be able to work on his masters’ project and paint while he’s working. His graduate project was preventing him from taking a job before, and he'd just been stressed, and this is the perfect job to find. It seems like God’s really been looking out for us this year, and that’s I guess what I’m most thankful for this Thanksgiving.  I wonder what everyone's thankful for? We need a comment system on the journals.

End of Chapter Hiatus
[Aaron] - November 2 , 2009

Well, it's the end of the chapter, and that means it's time for what I've been planning for a couple months now. I'm taking a hiatus from the main comic. Not that I won't be posting something, but for now I'm going to be focusing on my Master's project. Awhile ago, I decided to do this at the end of this chapter, with it making a good point to break.

I know I've taken a hiatus or two in this comic's life, though usually not more than a couple weeks around finals, but this is an important time for me. After all, following this, I'll have my masters and be done with graduate school. Then I can focus on my professional career, and hopefully I can give this comic a little more focus, love, and commitment.

In the meantime, I'll try and update with Filler comics or maybe even some updates to previous unfinished pages. I'd also like to work on the beginning edit at some point. It'd be nice to replace the lackluster beginning with an appropriately scripted alternative. (Same story, but it should make more sense...)

After all, when I started this comic, it was random, one-shot joke based, and a simple pass-time. One of the biggest give-aways is the characters being directly named after my online alias Adyon, rather than coming up with a more unique story. =P I didn't plan on creating something like this with my own characters anymore. But, it is what is it. I have already began writing it as its own story, making the characters unique. Adyon's past for instance is nothing like my past. His personality isn't quite the same, and all and all, he will change dynamically on his own. The same goes for most characters, even those based on my friends. A few things will be more evident when I finish altering the beginning. For instance, the beginning opens on Adyon and Ninya having recently started dating, of course with the current addition I've already put at the beginning, it's evident they've been friends since childhood.

Anyway, there's plenty of things yet to come, and I don't want to give them away. Heck, as soon as the comic comes out of hiatus, things are going to shift quite a bit. Things will be less "ordinary". The fantasy element of this comic will be playing a much larger role. I can't wait to draw it, so for now I'll focus as hard as I can on completing my education, so I can get to that. Thanks everyone!

Cars Suck to Paint (for me)
[Aaron] - October 19, 2009

Dang, this page took too long. With the comic being full color, when it comes to cars, it's complicated for me. =P (At least with the style I color the backgrounds) I tried to simplify it some, but it didn't fit with the rest of the backgrounds, so I just worked on them a bunch. Sorry that there's so little to show for it. Two whole panels yay! This is one of the reasons I'm wanting to switch to black and white. I can do dramatic panels without seeming like I'm just wasting time and space. >.< Soon, but my master's is still my main concern right now. Then this comic can get some love. (And after that I may even eventually start advertising =D Ha ha...yeah, I've still never really advertised this site much, except for a few weeks briefly when it first started...All the more reason to thank everyone who's continued to watch me through my limited weekly posting!)

Getting My Masters
[Aaron] - October 4, 2009

Just wanted to mention that we might be taking a bit of a hiatus sometime around November. I'm not sure yet, but at said time, it will be the end of a chapter and a good time to break. At that point, I may begin working exclusively on my graduate project/thesis so I can graduate soon. Then I'll have my M.A. and be done with school for the foreseeable future. (I can still get an M.F.A. later if I need it, but for now, that's all I'll be doing)

Anyway, if I do go on hiatus, I may try to find a way to update in some way, even if it's just finishing old comics or posting small random comics, but this is the last stretch for me school-wise, and I need to focus for a bit. After that, I may even give the comic a bit more love and try to work towards finishing the first volume. After that I have plans to switch to a black and white "manga" format, and with it update much more frequently.
